MBR Flat Membrane: Construction and Performance of In-Situ Hybridized Nanoparticle Ultrafiltration Membranes

MBR flat-sheet membrane: Membrane-based water treatment technology, centered on ultrafiltration, is a crucial approach to ensuring safe drinking water and enabling compliant wastewater reuse.

MBR flat-sheet membranes: Membrane-based water treatment technologies centered on ultrafiltration offer a critical solution for ensuring safe drinking water and enabling the advanced reuse of treated wastewater. However, traditional polymer ultrafiltration membranes face significant challenges, including trade-offs between selectivity and permeability, poor anti-fouling performance, and the difficulty of simultaneously removing multi-component contaminants across various scales under low-pressure conditions. To overcome these key technical hurdles, we have developed innovative strategies—such as microstructure modulation, in-situ hybridization with nanoparticles, and incorporating nano-adsorbent materials directly into finger-like pores—to create next-generation membranes and investigate their enhanced performance. The results demonstrate that these proposed approaches effectively address the major challenges associated with conventional ultrafiltration technology.
